Summer School 2007

Summer School 2007 Report

Included in this section is a selection of websites completed by summer school students in July 2007.  While the work is the student's work, websites were edited for spelling and grammar before publishing.

The summer school was for year 6 and 7 students with eight sixth form mentors to make 47 in total from St Peter's (Noctorum), Hillside, Townfield and Greasby Primary Schools, and Ridgeway, Upton and St Anselm's Secondary Schools.

The aim of the school was to enable gifted and talented students to extend their technology abilities into new areas of learning, arming themselves with media communication skills that can be applied to all learning areas in the future. Students created web pages incorporating material through digital still photographic workshops, video camera work and podcasting.

The students found the work challenging so it is all the more to their credit that so many produced such excellent websites personalised to their own tastes within the limitations of the templates provided. The students demonstrated use of a variety of technology and software, contributed to their websites off site, and, in many cases, used the website to report on a variety of topics of interest to them above and beyond the basic requirements set.

A key feature was the students working across age and transition boundaries in a non school environment that models a different way of learning.
